5 Reasons to keep your Gallbladder

The Liver and Gallbladder are part of your digestive system.  The liver cells secrete a substance called bile that breaks up (emulsifies) fats so they can be digested.  The gallbladder stores concentrated bile to be released when needed, that is when you eat fats or fatty foods; but bile also serves other purposes so here are 5 important reasons to keep your gallbladder:

1. Since the main purpose of the gall bladder is to release bile to breakdown fats, if you remove it your body’s ability to perform this function is greatly reduced.  You will need to avoid eating high fat foods like fatty cuts of meat, deep fried foods, processed meats like bacon and sausage, high-fat cheeses, cream sauces and gravies. This also applies to healthy fats such as vegetable oil, avocados, olives, and fish like salmon that is high in beneficial omega-3 fatty acids.

2. One little known fact, even among medical personnel, is that if you have had your gallbladder removed, you will absorb very little, if any, Vitamin D from your GI tract if you take it as a supplement whether it be taken as drops or capsules. This also applies to ALL fat-soluble vitamins including A, D, E and K. This can lead to other health issues that are specifically related to fat-soluble vitamin deficiencies. For example, vitamin D deficiency affects your bones; vitamin A deficiency affects your vision; vitamin K is important for blood clotting.

3. Bile is also involved in the process for eliminating worn-out red blood cells, hormones and certain toxins from your body.  Without enough bile to bind to, these substances can build up in your body and cause other problems.

4. An increased risk of colorectal cancer is also associated with gallbladder removal possibly due to continual dribbling of bile into the digestive tract, where microbes can convert it into toxic substances. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10324655/#:~:text=Most%20domestic%20and%20foreign%20studies,0.89%E2%80%931.34)%20was%20observed

5. Lastly, why resort to surgery when many gallbladder issues can be addressed using natural alternatives?  Homeopathy may help. Check out some of these research articles:
